Mark Dillon, Principal Engineer from our Melbourne Office has been invited to present at the 1st conference and seminar of Geotechnical and Slope stability organised by the Geotechnical and Slope Stability Association in Mongolia. The conference will be held on 13th April in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and Mark will be presenting on the topic of “Site Selection for Tailings Storage Facilities”.
The President of the Association Dr Ganzirig Batchuluun, of the Department of Mining at the School of Geology and Mining, Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST), is working closely with Mark on a tailings storage facility for the Oyu Tolgoi project, the largest mining project ever built in Mongolia and one of the largest Gold Copper deposits in the world. It is being further developed by Rio Tinto and the Government of Mongolia. Mark and Dr Batchuluun are working on quality assurance aspects of the project.
