ATC Williams recently introduced drones and image processing to our Tailings Management capabilities.

At ATC Williams we are committed to employing the latest technologies and innovative ideas to improve services to our clients. In line with this strategy, we have recently introduced drones and image processing into our business for a number of applications. These include aerial surveys of tailings storage facilities, surveillance inspections of dams and landfills, and estimation of a rockfill’s particle size distribution and placed density for quality control purposes during construction of a rockfill embankment dam.

The latter application has been part of an extensive collaborative research project with the University of Melbourne. This research commenced in 2013 and explores the physical and mechanical properties of rockfill.
