Mark Dillon, Principal Engineer and Victoria Manager, visited Mongolia in January as part of his regular visits to Oyu Tolgoi, where ATC Williams is conducting audits of the tailings storage facility (TSF) design and construction quality. ATC Williams is partnering with the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST) in this large scale copper project developed by Rio Tinto and the Government of Mongolia. In addition to providing critical input on engineering aspects of the TSF, Mark works closely with MUST to share knowledge and expertise in the areas of tailings and water management, providing a Seminar each visit on tailings management. During this most recent visit, Mark presented a seminar to University stall, students and industry representatives on the application of Tailings Guidelines, Tailings Storage and Depositions Principals.
This involvement extends a long and valued relationship with Rio Tinto, whilst expanding ATC William's footprint within the emerging Mongolian mining sector.
