New Tailings Pump Station & Pipeline Commissioned at Rosebery Site on March 2018 Successfully in Operation for One Year

Categories:

The new slurry pump station and pipeline system that was commissioned in March 2018 at MMG’s Rosebery Lead and Zinc Mine in Tasmania has been successfully in operation for one year now!

ATC Williams’ Slurry Transport Group was responsible for the Feasibility and Detailed Design of the system, also providing support during the project phases of Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Operator-training.

The fully automated tailings transport system sends tailings from the Rosebery process plant to recently upgraded 2/5 Dam, also engineered by ATC Williams. The designed system includes a tailings pump station at the process plant, tailings pipeline to the 2/5 Dam, tailings pipeline leak detection system, tailings distribution floating pipe system at the dam, and a gravity flushing/dilution water system.

The pump station is designed with 100% installed stand-by capacity and automated switchover capacity between operating and stand-by trains.

ATC Williams acknowledges and thanks MMG for the support provided throughout the project, showing an openness to innovative thinking and a focus on safety.
