Participation in MWT Conference

The 2018 Mine Waste and Tailings Conference was a decidedly successful event, bringing together key experts from around the world for two days of presentations and discussion. ATC Williams were official sponsors of this internationally recognised event alongside companies such as Rio Tinto and BHP.

The conference is at the forefront of mine waste and tailings innovation and technology, and was held from the 23rd to the 24th of July in Brisbane. ATC Williams is committed to being leaders in industry advancements, and thus had multiple representatives from both our Melbourne and Perth offices attending and presenting important programs over the two days.

Some of the key topics covered by our very experienced engineers were:

  • Segregating tailings: effects on density and water retention (presented by the vastly experienced Keith Seddon, Principal Engineer)
  • Optimum embankment design for a tailings dam
  • Mine waste geotechnics Expert Panel

Important knowledge and insights were gained from these two days of forums and discussions, which will assist us in further developing our future tailings management solutions.
