Tailings and Mine Waste 2024
10 – 13 November

The Tailings and Mine Waste Conference series is a forum for presenting mill tailings and mine waste state-of-art and state-of-practice. It provides an important platform for discussing topics facing the tailings, mining and environmental communities.

 

Dr Alfredo Arenas, Principal Geotechnical Engineer

Alfredo Arenas will travel to Colorado to present his paper Feijao Dam – 3D Numerical Simulation: a comprehensive approach, from triggering to dam breach.

ANCOLD Conference
11 – 14 November
Adelaide Convention Centre, Adelaide, SA

The conference theme is “Never the same dam twice” and draws attention to dams being dynamic structures. ANCOLD continues to take action by advocating for evolution and innovation in the dams industry to improve procurement, contracting, regulation and construction.

ATC Williams Presenters

Tailings Dams Session: Tuesday, 12 November 2024, 2 pm -3.30 pm

 

Zerui (Thomas) Lu – Senior Engineer, will present on Design Considerations for a Thickened Tailings Storage Facility.

 

Arezoo Farhadi – Principal Engineer, will present on Quantitative Risk Assessment for Tailings Dams: Regulatory Compliance and Beyond.

 

Yuqi Tan – Associate Engineer, will present on Vibration Induced Tailings Liquefaction.

Yuqi will also be a panellist in the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) panel discussion on Wednesday, 13 November, 9 am -9.45 am.

Behrooz Ghahreman-Nejad – Chief Technical Officer / Senior Principal, is a co-author of all the papers we will be presenting.

Dr Alfredo Arenas, Principal Geotechnical Engineer, coauthor of the paper: Considerations for 2D and 3D slope stability analysis for closure of a tailings storage facility. Coauthored with N Pereira, S Lines, Red Earth Engineering, Australia.

This paper will be presented by N Pereira and S Lines from Red Earth Engineering while Alfredo is in Colorado at the Tailings and Mine Waste 2024 conference.
