The 2025 United Nations International Women’s Day theme is March Forward for all Women and Girls, as a pressing call to action for gender equality across the world. The UN’s vision is for the next generation of young women and girls to be empowered catalysts for lasting change.
Our IWD Scorecard
International Women’s Day on 8 March is a day for individuals and organisations to pause and take stock of gender equality and gender-based issues. For ATC Williams, these conversations include salary disparity, parental leave and women in STEM.
- Salary disparity— ATC Williams participated in the 2024 Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) annual gender pay gap survey for the first time. Results are pending.
- Parental Leave— ATCW offers up to twenty weeks of fully paid parental leave for all parents. We have removed the distinction between primary and secondary caregivers to create accessible and equitable leave for our parents and their partners.
- Women in STEM— In a milestone moment for our Undergraduate Vacation Program, five of our six placements were filled by female applications across all offices.

AusIMM Event Snapshots
The Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) celebrated women in mining with their industry message “Driving Positive Change Together.”
AusIMM hosts annual IWD luncheons across Australia to recognise and celebrate the accomplishments of women and those who identify as women in the mining industry. This year, AusIMM launched Series Ambassadors, exceptional women in mining dedicated to championing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) in the resources sector with powerful personal stories to share.
ATC Williams represented at events in Brisbane and Melbourne.
Brisbane
The Brisbane event was first up on Thursday, 27 February, at the Brisbane Exhibition and Convention Centre. Sam Bloom, two-time World Para Surfing Champion and bestselling author, was the keynote speaker and inspired a room of almost 700 guests with her personal story of determination and courage.

“Sam Bloom was such a wonderful choice as keynote speaker for this conference, and I thoroughly enjoyed her story. Sam is a strong and genuine person who, for all her bravery and awe-inspiring determination, will happily point to the people (and magpies) in her life who support her and give her the motivation to conquer new goals. When we look at this from a women in mining perspective, it calls on the industry to support women, and it calls on all individuals (not just women) to build each other up. A sentiment I can certainly get behind!”

Melbourne
Zinc at Federation Square will host the Melbourne event on Tuesday 11th, March. Soccer legend, Olympian and author Lydia Williams, who made history as the first Aboriginal goalkeeper for the Matildas, will deliver the highly-anticipated keynote. Our team look forward to sharing their update in the next issue of The Groundwork,
International Women’s Day is a meaningful moment in our annual event calendar, and we look forward to continuing to be catalysts for change.
