ATC Williams opened an office in Lima, Peru, in 2014 and is fortunate to have a selection of staff who have been involved in our main Las Bambas project for several years. Many of the staff live and work onsite to manage the project.
We profile this close-knit team below and learn which Peruvian hotspots are on their tourist checklists.

Hernán Ulises Vera Ortiz
Senior Quality Assurance (CQA) Site Engineer
Hernan is a CQA for the construction of the Tailings Dam Stage 6 at Las Bambas Mine. He has been with the Peru office since it opened in 2014.
“I am fortunate to work at ATC Williams with a team who know each other very well. It is always rewarding to see that the work you have been tasked with is done to the best of your ability. As a geological engineer, this means ensuring that the geological work on the tailings dam is done properly in accordance with the designer’s specifications, and that all work on the dam is done to a high standard.”
Manuel Burga López
Senior Quality Assurance (CQA) Site Engineer
Manuel is the second-longest-serving member of the Peru team, having just celebrated ten years with ATC Williams.
“I value the opportunity to work on the construction of one of the world’s largest tailings dams. I am mindful of the responsibility of this task and feel fortunate to work with talented and honest people who give their best in every undertaking.”
Luis Pinto Quispe
Quality Assurance Supervisor (CQA) Site Engineer
Luis has extensive experience as CQA for the Las Bambas tailings dam over the last seven years with the Peru team.

Karina Cruz Del Castillo
Quality Assurance (CQA) Site Engineer
Katrina joined the Peru team in 2023. She is a natural problem solver, suited to the role of quality assurance.
“What I like about our team in Peru is we share opinions and information and work together to solve problems with our experiences.”
Christian Rebata Lopez
Senior Engineer
Christian joined ATC Williams in 2025. As a senior engineer, he supports the Las Bambas project and other works related to the Peru office.
“Since joining ATC Williams, I am learning how to understand the client’s needs and benefiting from being part of an experienced team.”
Miryam Ugarte
Administrative Assistant
Miryam provides administrative support to the management and technical team and liaises with the operations team in Australia. Since joining the office seven months ago, she has also helped to establish the relocated office.
“I like to read about tailings management and gain new insights to support the team and our clients better. Everyone has been helpful and friendly, and I feel like a valued team member.”
