“Attending the AUS International Women’s Luncheon in Melbourne was truly inspiring, especially hearing Lydia Williams, goalkeeper for the Matildas, share her incredible journey. From humble beginnings to becoming one of Australia’s top football players, Lydia’s story is a powerful testament to resilience and determination.
She shared the highs and lows of her career, including her fight for equal pay and her efforts to create a fairer future for women in sport. Lydia’s leadership, both on and off the field, shows how she’s not only excelled as an athlete but also as an advocate for change. Her story is about more than football – it’s about overcoming obstacles, standing up for what’s right, and empowering others to do the same. Lydia’s words and leadership continue to inspire us all to keep pushing forward, no matter the challenges.”

“Lydia provided everyone with a glimpse into her life, that of her amazing family and their achievements. The theme of her presentation was ‘Legacy’, where she beautifully articulated the need for perseverance, breaking barriers, helping others and paving the way for future generations. It got everyone in the room thinking about what they will leave behind.”
