The Shur River Dam was initially proposed as an integral component of the upgrade of the tailings and water management system for the Sar Cheshmeh Mine. Many considerations had to be factored into this unique design including local seismic activity, appropriate construction methods and materials availability, climatology and cost. This ANCOLD High C category dam is still fully operational today.
